Western europe went to Asia thinking there were not civilizations, literature, arts, elite classes, they trying to make wheels and dealing. Dutch, Portuguese tried to colonize China like British did with India for 70 years. UK only the port of Hongkong and Portugal got Macau. The sad story portugal bought slaves in Africa to sell in South America/Brazil

I wouldn't call it gravitational pull by China. Tibet was simply forcibly taken over by China….

We are really Chinese. China has disappeared since the Ming Dynasty. We are the center of the world. Japan is only an island country. after the failure of the korean occupation by the Europe, they was collaborated each other in order to colonize Korea by the surprise attack of japanbritan Fleet. After 20 years of the Success, it was one more time surprise attack in that the japanese army surrounded the royal palace to make a pro-Japanese cabinet and ate it. If we are a Chinese tribute, so how can Joseon fight against Japan one-on-one and was conquered?? Because we are the origin of China… how proud of Korea's self-consciousness is now, I don't know where it came from. It is Chosun. The Juche idea of Joseon is the current Juche idea of North Korea.

In such a framework as this where would you fit the Indian civilisation? If it is not ‘eastern’ to be included here then is it ‘western’, or no separate civilisation? I think you’ve probably missed the various influences Indian and Chinese history had wielded with each other.

From the juvenile mistakes of identifying Thailand as Cambodia, marking out Greece as the origin of Christianity and leaving out Mongolia as an Eastern Civilization, to the less than expert use of modern boundaries to represent what the kingdoms and empires were back then, and finally to this ridiculously long introduction to an even more ridiculous 40+ episodes on Eastern Civilization, this series already has a lot of problems.

Now I know why East Asian all look Chinese, and a lot of south-eastern Asian looks like a mix of Indian and Chinese.

I was expecting a documentary from the title of the video, please correct it to "introduction to course…." because it's very much click bait the way it is.

It is this part of the world and this culture that would also spread further north and east towards the Americas, too. Thousands of years before the first Europeans set sail in ships by the 1500s.

Such an interesting topic, but the pacing feels slow and your delivery is dull.
