Chloroquine, Hydroxychloroquine & SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19): Mechanism & Overview of Anti-Viral Effects

Chloroquine, Hydroxychloroquine & SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) | Mechanism of Action and Overview of Anti-Viral Properties

This is a follow-up lesson to my previous Chloroquine & Hydroxychloroquine video. As some commenters noted (thanks to Zhijie Wang and The123michaelsilva), I neglected to discuss the anti-viral mechanism against SARS-CoV-2 (novel coronavirus) in enough detail and missed important points regarding mechanism of action. In this lesson, I discuss these multiple anti-viral mechanisms in more detail including the ability of chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine to inhibit endocytosis, act as a zinc ionophore and a novel mechanism (recently discovered in April 2020) wherein chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine affect viral binding.

*Re-uploaded due to error in previous version*

1) Brief Introduction to Multiple Mechanisms of Action of Chloroquine/Hydroxychloroquine

2) Chloroquine/Hydroxychloroquine inhibits viral endocytosis

3) Chloroquine acts as zinc ionophore

4) Chloroquine/Hydroxychloroquine interfere with viral binding

*Disclaimer* All of these mechanisms have only been shown in in-vitro studies (in a cell culture plate), so these mechanisms may not translate to actual clinical significance in treating humans – we still have to wait for human clinical trial data.

I hope you find this lesson helpful! If you do, please give this video a thumbs up and consider subscribing to the channel – all of your support is greatly appreciated!

Can you do a video about the side effects of Chloroquine and the less severe form Hydroxychloroquine? Can this medicine stay in our bodies and messed with our immune system in a bad way?

Could hydroxychloroquine be delivered in a more targeted way to prevent/reduce toxic effects. For example using a inhaler or atomized in the air patients breath in?

@JJ Medicine, very interesting article, THANK YOU!! As very much a layman, and a simple soul, a couple of questions, if I may
    1. Has any study been done on just zinc alone? What doses are we talking about and the feasibility of taking these outside a hospital environment and/or nutritionally as your film implies the virus takes a greater hold in zinc deficient environments
    2. Is this method, clinically speaking, more preferable than the completely untested, esp for long term effects, of the medical professions proclamations that a vaccine is the best way
My estranged daughter works for a group who does malaria modelling for drugs and/or vaccines, just asked her for very very brief details of effectiveness of vacs and whether any longer term effects seen: I don't know if she is permitted to give any details but I won't press her for an answer. Personally, I would take the meds for sars#2 ANY DAY over a vac, esp if promoted by Bill Gates who is on record wanting planet pop reductions

Could we not simply look at medical records of the over 1 million people who have contracted (and/or died from) COVID-19 since Jan. 2020 to determine how many had been taking hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) for a pre-existing auto-immune disorder… in addition to focusing on countries with malaria?

    Covid 19. "Medication Dosage"

"Several factors have been associated with the risk of developing hydroxychloroquine retinopathy. One of the most important appears to be dosage—with debate over whether daily intake vs. cumulative dosage is most significant. Recent studies indicate that cumulative dosage may be a more important consideration than daily dosage.2 However, since higher daily dosage will obviously lead to the toxic cumulative dose more rapidly, daily dosage is still important to consider. Higher daily dosage also leads to higher concentration of the drug in the RPE, which could lead to more aggressive tissue damage. Previous reports indicate that toxicity is rare if dosing is less than 6.5 mg/kg/day.2 To avoid overdosage, especially in obese patients or those of short stature, dose should be based on height, which allows for an estimation of ideal body weight. (The drug clears slowly from the blood, so basing dosage on weight puts obese patients at risk.) The typical daily dosage for most indications is 200 mg to 400 mg per day. Daily dosage is recommended not to exceed 400 mg. " Our body makes Vitamin, D 3 in the sun. Allow people to be nude, when they want to be nude.

When will clinical trails begins? And are they going to look for another way than antimalarial drugs?

There is a problem with Hydroxychloroquine. "They also can cause "irreversible brain and brain stem dysfunction, even when used at relatively low doses" in some patients, according to former Army preventive medicine officer Dr. Remington Nevin, who now serves as executive director of The Quinism Foundation, an advocacy group that supports research on quinoline drugs, including chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine and mefloquine — a malaria prevention medication once taken by U.S. troops that the FDA says can cause lasting mental health problems." The Quinine, in Tonic water, can have nasty side effects too. Having enough Vitamin D 3, is way better.
COVID-19 Coronavirus can most likely be fought by Vitamin D

Much videos about Hydroxychloroquine but dont forget Azithromycine witch is associated with. It is anti bacterial drug but has also anti viral effect.
